The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance, and its allies, will peacefully protest outside the office of Sen. Thad Cochran in Jackson, MS on Friday September 8th, from 11:30AM to 2:00PM.
We demand that Mississippi stands by its #DACA recipients and protect the students, doctors, lawyers, teachers and workers that have helped build our economy and contributed to our culture.
The decision to rescind DACA is an inhumane attack on young people, their families and our communities. This decision puts thousands of young people at risk of deportation, and a six-month delay does nothing to mitigate that. We support DACA because we strongly believe that no one should be deported. Only the most criminally dangerous should be deported.
DACA has created opportunities for young immigrants to work, pursue educational opportunities, and support themselves and their families. In the absence of just and humane immigration policies, the program provided some neccesary relief for thousands of people. These protections should be expanded, not rescinded.
